	Jim Harlow-Senior Partner, IBD Benefits & Risk Management Group, Inc. Jim has over 22 years of experience in the insurance and manage care industry. From 1992-1996, he was an Account Executive with BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina. He worked extensively in the small, medium market, as well as, his last two years, he worked solely in the large group market which consisted of employer groups with more than 250 employees and muti state locations. In 1996, he formed Commonwealth Benefits, LLC. In March 2010, he merged his agency to co-found IBD Benefits & Risk Management Group, Inc.Jim’s experience includes: Life Insurance, Disability Income, Group and Individual Medical, Medicare Supplement, Dental, Vision, General Liability, Excess Liability, Professional Liability, and Workers Compensation. 	Chris Smollen- Senior Partner, IBD Benefits & Risk Management, Inc.Chris has over 20 years of experience in the insurance and managed care industry. In 1999 he founded JBS Benefit Group, LLC. In March of 2010, he went on to merge his agency to co- found IBD Benefits & Risk Management, Inc. one of North Carolina’s leading consulting benefits firms. Prior to forming JBS Benefit Group, LLC and IBD Benefits & Risk Management, his most recent role was as Senior Underwriter for BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina specializing in self-funded employers in the large group market segment. Chris also worked for Metropolitan Life out of New York City as an Underwriter.Chris’s expertise includes underwriting, managed care, fully insured and self insured health plans, alternate funding arrangements, dental, life, short term disability (STD), long term disability (LTD), and voluntary benefits.Chris and his wife, Leslie reside in Chapel Hill with their 3 children. 	Steve Greer- Benefits ConsultantSteve joined the team of IBD Benefits & Risk Management in 2010 as a Producer and Benefits Consultant. In his employee benefit practice of 15 years, he enjoys partnering with his clients, helping them with strategies and services that assist them in building employee benefit plans that reward and retain employees, and at the same time managing the corporate budget. Steve takes great pride in the relationships his clients have with the team members of IBD Benefits.Steve started his career with Northwestern Mutual Life in North Carolina where he became Rookie of the Year. Later he was president of the Special Agents’ Association, and earned his Chartered Life Underwriting Degree and became a Life Million Dollar Round Table Member.Steve then opened and managed the Raleigh corporate office for Consolidated Planning, Inc. where he was the Vice President for Business Development. He was a multiple Leaders’ Club recipient while helping clients build, protect and distribute their estates.Steve is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of East Carolina University where he played football for Coach Pat Dye. 	Lynn Bunn- Senior Account Manager & Benefits ConsultantLynn joined the team of IBD Benefits and Risk Management in March of 2010. Her 20 years of experience includes consulting, sales, sales management, and account management. Lynn has worked on both the carrier side, as well as the broker/consultant side of the Healthcare Industry. Prior to her employment with IBD Benefits and Risk Management, Lynn worked as Account Manager for another local benefits firm. Lynn began her career with EDS Corporation, the Third Party Administrator for The State Health Plan of NC. In her role as Plan Services Manager, she traveled to Western North Carolina to educate employees and retirees on the policies and procedures of The State Health Plan. She was also instrumental in writing the State Health Plan Employee/ Retiree Benefit Booklet. Lynn then spent 12 years with Kaiser Permanente, a national healthcare organization, where she held titles of Senior Account Executive, and Small Business Sales Manager.Lynn’s expertise includes working with the client during the renewal process to educate them on their renewal options by evaluating different strategies including alternate funding arrangements such as HRA’s and HSA’s.Lynn is a graduate of The University of North Carolina- Wilmington, NC. 	Jody Fortune – Individual Benefits Specialist & Small Group Account ManagerJody joined the team of IBD Insurance Services in 2008, prior to the merger with IBD Benefits & Risk Management. Jody specializes in helping individuals find affordable health plans for themselves, their families, and for Medicare participants.Jody is also a specialist with Inclusive Health, also known as the North Carolina Health Insurance Risk Pool, and is consistently recognized as a top referring agent for the plan. While there he focused on tailoring benefit packages specific to each group’s unique needs. This experience allows him to understand both group and individual policies and gives him a unique perspective as a Small Group Account Manager assisting clients in the small group market segment on the various products and renewal options. Prior to joining IBD Benefits & Risk Management, Jody served in a similar role with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina.Jody has helped maintain the prestigious President’s Club Agency Status with BCBSNC, an honor reserved for the top 35% of all agents in the state. 	Mike Smollen- Account ManagerMike began his insurance career as a property and casualty agent with JBS Benefit Group in Carrboro, NC in 2005. He continued this role in 2010 when JBS Benefit Group merged with IBD Benefits & Risk Management. He currently writes personal lines, as well as, commercial property and casualty insurance. Mike is also very instrumental in servicing and assisting group, and individual health clients. Prior to his insurance career, Mike worked in the derivatives industry. Starting on the ground floor, he trained as a trading clerk on the Chicago Board Options Exchange with Cohen, Cohn, Duffy & McGowan. For the next eight years, Mike worked in the trading industry, eventually becoming a floor manager and junior trader for Goldman Sachs. Mike and his wife, Katey then opted for a climate and career change. They moved to sunny Chapel Hill, NC to be closer to family and raise their now, 4 year old daughter, Veronica.Mike graduated Summa Cum Laude from the State University of New York College at Buffalo earning his Bachelors of Science Degree in Economics with a minor in Finance. 	Dave Woodard-Life / Disability Income SpecialistDave Joined IBD Benefits & Risk Management, Inc. in 2011. He began partnering with Jim Price of IBD Insurance Services over 20 years ago for the purposes of consulting with individuals and families looking for insurance solutions. He has worked in Raleigh and throughout North Carolina as an Insurance Agent and Broker since 1978. Dave is responsible for advising and consulting Individuals and Families in the area of Life, Disability, Long Term Care, and Annuity Planning. Prior to entering the Financial Services Industry, Dave was National Sales Manager for Raleigh based U.S. Floor Systems, Inc., a national and international manufacturer of commercial, floor maintenance equipment and chemicals.Dave is a Raleigh native, and resides with his wife, Barbara. He received a B.A. Degree at Methodist University in Fayetteville. He also volunteers for The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and The American Red Cross, and the USO.
